Topic: Chris Lisciandro - Jiu Jitsu Club, Sherman Oaks, CA

I stumbled upon "Jiu Jitsu Club" in Sherman Oaks, CA.  The main instructor is Chris Lisciandro.  Anyone know anything about this guy? He claims to have won the 2005 IBJJF Gracie World Championship among other things but when I went to the IBJJF web page to check the info I couldn't find his name.

Link to his list of accomplishments:

yes, I no him. He is pretty good but i'm not exactly sure on his accomplishments.

If you live in that area i would suggest you go to Jean Jeaques Machado's Jiu Jitsu Academy in Tarzana, it is a much better and bigger place. After all, we all know Jean Jeaques Machado is a legend in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

How is it "better"? How do you know Chris? You don't know any of his accomplishments.

Chris Lisciandro won a fucking ton of  tournaments coming up through the ranks. I don't think he's competed as much (if at all) since around 2006. I know he's had several surgeries. He is a very legit black belt and has been for several years.

You can tell how long he's been around in this old video which shows him winning the Gracies over Rener Gracie and getting the medal from Helio.

Jean Jacques is the man and you should also check out his academy as well if you live close. In the end it will come down to what style of instruction and which overall vibe of the gym you like best. Don't take some guy on the Internet's word for it.
