Topic: relson gracie jiujitsu

few days ago, i exchanged some mails with a student of the relson gracie academy in hawai.  relson seems to not emphase strikes in the free movement phase.  a basic strikes and tries to close the gap as quick as possible.  he works a lot from the clinch and ground of course, using techniques like headbutts, elbows to the spine, punches, stomps, etc ...
is it the same approach as the gracie barra fundamental program ?

Re: relson gracie jiujitsu

Similar. All of our foundation comes from Grand Master Carlos And Helio Gracie. Our Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Learned from them and our program follows his directives.
Each instructor input a little of his own preferences on their curriculum. This is normal. It is like compare Ice Cream. You have different flavors ( Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry) but it is still ice cream!

I started in Relson Gracie and moved to Gracie Barra.  I feel I have benifited from both philosophies.
