Topic: Go to moves

What I would like to see here, and I have seen so I'm encouraged, is solid, basic, high percentage go to moves.  I'm not an natural athlete and the more options going through my head the longer it takes me to react (Hick's Law in action).  De la Riva for example, it's not for me but defending it is.  So in a nut shell I would like to see more videos for the big, slow and old. cool

Re: Go to moves

Great idea...  I'm not big, but I'm slow and older than many.

Gi is slower than no gi, and closed guard is slower than open guard.  It's tough to outwit the zippy ones!

Re: Go to moves

Ironically when I first went from no-gi (mma) to gi I hated it, now I don't even bother going to the no-gi classes most of the time.

Re: Go to moves

I dont know if there are videos for the big, slow and old but I can offer some suggestions based on what I do to slow down the game. Someone suggested closed guard. I strongly recommend working that for sure especially if you are tired. Attack from there. One thing I do is start using my opponent's gi to tie him up and break posture. There are plenty of videos on that on youtube. From top position, this is much harder to control a faster, smaller opponent cuz he will use a lot of open guard attacks. Again use his gi against him, control his hips and use your weight. Your center of gravity needs to be over his hips when passing to put pressure on them and keep him from moving. If its anywhere else you have to possibility of getting swept.
