Topic: How many people?

How many people are taking action to learn Portuguese, such as spending a 1/2 hour, hour, or more every day?

How many people are reading these threads to pick up knowledge sometimes, but there isn't very much basic information?

How many are not making much effort to learn, but would like to learn some day?

How many people clicked on the wrong link  big_smile ?

Re: How many people?

I am of the first 3.  I downloaded Pimsleur series.  Unfortunalty, the only time I have to listen is while in the car and that's not really the best time..hard to concentrate.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Is there a growing Brazilian community in the Houston/Texas area.  If so, I wish there was a classroom style curriculum that I could take.  Take Drac's curriculum....one technique helps with the learning of the next, everything is taught in order for a reason.  I want to learn Portuguese the same way I guess.  That's how I learned English.  I had to learn to spell CAT or say my ABC's before I was taught about verbs and adverbs, prepositons and prepositional phrases...etc.  I know how to say "Excuse me, Do you speak English?" and a little bit of some simple stuff but I don't know how to spell it..damn sure can't write it.  My only other option would be to move to Brazil and just assimilate.  A buddy of mine at work was stationed in Germany and 2 years later he spoke perfect German...no classes just learned one word at a time and people would tell him what he is not saying right.  I want to learn it very badly but if it's not structured I loose intrest (get lazy).  I want to learn the ABC's and the 123's before I ask where the bathroom is.

Re: How many people?

I'm also using Pimsleur and it's already a curriculum, Brian, one lesson per day and they're meant to be listened in order.

Though since I know English and Spanish I can understand most words and the general idea of a sentence in Portuguese.
