Topic: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

Don't get me wrong, I own a couple of Affliction shirts that my wife has turned into night gowns.  They were cool when they first came out five years ago, but now I just feel sorry for some guys who still wear them.  Who wants to wear a shirt that has fake armor drawn on it.

These shirts are made for guys who want people to think they train.  Just like that Tapout shirt Cheese Burger Josh was wearing, TACKY and he got his ass kicked.

Remember...less is more.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

The extent of my Tapout collection, are now used for shop rags.

I wear my tournament/Acadmey shirts. Thats about it.

People will wear whatever they wont. It doesnt bug me that much. But im yet to hear a guy say, "Yes, i train." from a guy in an Affliction shirt after i ask if they train.

EDIT: I should say, im yet to actually believe one of these guys.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I don't get all of the elitest attitudes towards what other people wear. I mean really, who cares? I own a few Tapout shirts, so what. I still own a TapOut shirt I bought from Charles out of the trunk of his car like 8 or 9 years ago at a small show in Oklahoma City. I don't own any Affliction shirts, but thats not because of the elitest stigma attached to them, it's because I refuse to pay 80 bucks for a tshirt. lol.

If you have time  or feel the need to pass judgement on people because of what they are wearing, clearly one has other issues in their own lives they need to work on. In the daily grind of life, it's nothing to be even worrying about.

Btw, I've NEVER had anyone say anything to me in public about wearing a TapOut shirt in all the years I have worn them. If they did, I'd seriously bust out laughing.

Just my opinions..

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I wouldn't give two shits what some guy thought about I wear. And now that I'm married..I really don't give two shits what  girl would say tongue I wear what I feel like wearing..which mostly, is a gracie barra shirt now because it usually leads to wear do you train...and then me sending people to they gym. Me and Babalu trying to get that raise!!!! hahaha.

That being said, I own an old  Chuck Lyddell shirt I used to wear a long time ago on the nights he fought (Like once or twice) And I have a few TapouT shirts somewhere in my closet or out in the garage. That means I liked them when I bought them. The TapouT ones where the old school ones..black with just like ..a white tapout logo or something.  And I think I have a Korn Affliction shirt....it had nothing to do with fighting though.

I got a Wagnney Fabiano shirt that he gave me and a pair of Leo Santos shorts.

Is that bad?

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

The real reason I chose this topic is because I want to know what people really think about the Affliction design style.  Is this the style that is here to stay, or are the Skulls and blood always going to dominate the MMA/BJJ style.  I personally have moved on from that; but as a designer, I want to know what is popular and if you see the designs changing.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

Stick Figure Fightwear = no skulls, no blood just good ole' fashioned MMA and BJJ!!!  Anyone that has seen my shirts know they are legit... ask Colby

I for one could give 2 pieces of monkey crap what people wear, it doesn't matter though because everyone these is a fighter didn't you know that... Everyone trains UFC in someone's backyard these days, LOL!!!  I for one am an Affliction green belt, recognize fool!

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I own an affliction shirt. I've never worn it, it was like 50 bucks and it still has the tags on it. smile

I bought it because randy couture and a few others were signing autographs 3 years ago at the buckle..you had to buy a shirt to get the autograph. And they would only autograph on the shirts.

So I have a bedazzled affliction shirt with Randy, Sean Sherk, Jason Lambert, Bang, Big John, James Irvin and Scott Smith. The best part was that no one in line seemed to know anyone other than Randy and Big John. lol

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

Maybe Colby IS the cheesburger Josh...

BTW - My vote is a big NO to Affliction/Tapout.  You are just trying too hard.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I have a black Tapout shirt that I wear to MMA train in.  Since I am new to it, the idea was that, like Cheeseburger Josh,  the guys in the class would assume I train, and would be so intimidated that they would avoid hitting me too hard, as I might just unleash Holy Hell on them in retribution.

Mental note - shirt does not work work on Fisher.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I have a Warrior Wear shirt. Cost me $60.00 NZ. I have only worn it a couple of times to training where they all know me anyway. I just couldn't resist buying a shirt with 'Fighting solves everything'  written on the back & a big Viking looking helmet with 'Warrior" written above it on the front. It just looked cool to me, but not the kind of shirt I would wear to see my Nana.

Re: AFFLICTION...Tacky or Cool

I'm really feeling Sakuraba's Water shirt and some of the Scramble designs. I'm not so much into the flashy Affliction shirts.
