Topic: TRX

...the gym that i use just added a TRX area... pretty nice! i've been using it for abs and the options for exercises are only limited by your imagination... i've also been using it to train specific bjj movements using gravity to create the resistance...

i use weight training and now TRX on my off days from bjj... it's been a good combo for me...

anyone else with TRX info?

thx...

Re: TRX

What is TRX?  I don't think I've heard of it or used it before.  Enlighten me please....

My workout consists of alot of basic movements, explosive movements, and body weight exercises.  Everything is designed to pretty sport specific.  They are usually circuits and most of the time they are full body workouts.  Some days we focus on core and cardio, another day we will put the weights into it.  Regardless of the day its very high intensity, everything is timed, and at the end of the workout I am exhausted.

i walked by the TRX for a month or so...givin' it a wondering look... i noticed some of the trainers using it with their clients and i searched for some TRX vids on YouTube... i found that Brandon Vera is sponsored by TRX and he has some workout vids posted...

i tried it out and found that it ROCKS for abs and i've started to try to create ways to use it to challenge my workouts...

try this one... put your feet in the handles, get into a pushup position, then do a bicycle type movement brining the knees to your chest... then swing your feet from side to side, flexing your knees...

when you get the hang of that, instead of putting your hands in a pushup position on the floor, put your hands on a rubber medicine ball (preferably one that is full of air and not soft) then try to hold still... when you master holding still (feet in the straps and off the ground, hands balancing on the ball) try to repeat the bicycle and side to side... http://jiujitsutalk.com/Smileys/default/fing32.gif

Re: TRX

So.. I like it, but here in brazil we prefer to make use of the belt, because you yet get it and need less money..rs

That's cool, I never heard of anyone using the belt as a TRX substitute.

Re: TRX

I got a TRX a few months ago and love it. My brother is a personal trainer and he recommended I try it out. I got mine on ebay (brand new) for less than half of what it normally sells for. I work at home so it is a really conviennt way to get in a good workout at lunch.

I haven't used it specifically for BJJ... I would be interested to see what movements you guys came up with for that.

Re: TRX

using the belt is a good alternative... also, try using an old gi top... cut the lapel off and use it to workout... .02

Re: TRX

My academy had TRX suspension systems put in a couple months ago, and then have two TRX specialists come in and teach a TRX fitness/cardio class on Monday's and thursdays.

This stuff is great and you build a lot of muscular endurance and strength to your game. With the added cardio in their between sets we get the ultimate workout, kicks my butt everytime.
