I personally think what they should have done was just pass a bill to fix a few issues kind of what they did with the credit card companies recently. Just make a few rules that the insurance companies need to abide by. Like, covering all pre-existing conditions & making a limit to how much the insurance companies can charge people. No tax for not having health care, no forcing people to have health care(tax), just pass a few guidelines just like they did with the credit card companies but for the insurance companies.

I have a meniscus tear, a bucket handle tear that has flipped my meniscus into my joint and is causing irreparable damage to my cartilage. Time is of the essences and this is why Obamas Health care is headed in the wrong direction. In anther forum where I posted about my injury a guy from Canada posted this.
Ive had a meniscus tear in my left knee for two years now. Took a year just to meet with the surgeon, another 6 months just to hear back about a possible date, all for a really small surgery, Canadian healthcare fails.
I've never had it taken care of. I'm worried it will just stop working some day. I'm close to promotion so I don't want to take any time off
My wife is a stage 3C cancer surivor and her oncologist is from Europe and he told us straight out that if she hadn't been treated in the US she would be dead because in Europe Inflamitory Breast Cancer is considered too expensive and the chance of remission too low to treat. Within a week of her diagnosis she was on chemo and I didn't have to sell my house to pay the co-pay. No one in America is denied healthcare. It is illegal to do so but world class health care isn't cheap and comes at a cost. So instead of screwing everyone out of good healthcare it should be made easier for small companies and people to afford their own healthcare. Significant tax breaks and allowing competition across state lines would go a long way towards that goal. Europe is going the way of Greece because of the nanny state, everyone wants it now and they want it free. The problem with socialized anything is that it's great until you run out of other peoples' money.
Free market, individual freedom.

Exactly!!
Here is a PM a guy sent me...This is another example of what we are talking about.
Hey,
was wondering if you had competed on your injured knee and how it impacted your game if you had?
The reason I ask is because my left knee requires the same procedure you just had done for sure, and it hurts when training, and now, I think I've done my right knee in as well (Rolled with 300lb noob, got my foot caught in his gi, he pressed forward, kind of like a heel hook, not his fault). I've got a big competition coming up, and as a near blue, my instructor has hinted that doing well will lead to promotion shortly after.
First of all, I'm sorry to hear that brother. But I have no info to give you. I got injured only a week ago and just got surgery this morning. My meniscus flipped into my joint so I was unable to fully extend or bend my leg before today. All I can say, is hours after the surgery..I felt great. Could put full weight on my leg and extend it completely.
ME: I was told by my orthopedic surgeon (Who is one of the best in Houston and is a friend of mine who trains with us at the gym) that my knee is now fully operational. It is as good as new. I just need to wait for the soreness and swelling to go down.
I plan on only doing physical therapy for a week or two. Then training by ONLY doing drills for a week or two. And then sparring at like 20% and moving up.
Damn, got it all done so quick. Canadian health care sucks. I asked for an MRI today, and they put me on a waiting list for possibly 6 months. Surgery will take a year, me thinks, probably more. Really sucks, Ive been training hard like this for over a year. Hit triangles on everyone, but can't finish them because the knee feels like death if I close a figure 4
Was going to be my first competition too, probably best I hold off.
You see, Dr. Lubor told me my knee is fine now, there was no damage to the cartilage because we acted so fast. My meniscus was pressing against my cartilage and was going to start killing it soon causing irreparable damage. My knee wouldn't be the same if I would of waited 6 months to get a MRI and then a year to get surgery. That shit is crazy, I can't even imagine that.
That isn't a solution, a year and a half of a torn meniscus destroying irreplaceable cartilage due to waiting lists is a PROBLEM.
But, but, but what about the children? Oh wait they've been covered by law for years. Just like that lady who recntly stood on stage with BHO in Ohio and anuounced to the world how she couldn't afford her cancer treatment and was losing her house. She, the media and BHO left out the part where she was being treated for free at the Cleveland Clininc.

Hi All Thanks for all your comments and experiences, it makes me feel better about the prospect of surgery as it doesn't seem the major deal I thought it would be.....however. I had the Dr's this week and to get an MRI....minimum 3 months....surgery...more than a year after that (I am in Calgary, Canada). They will not scope without the MRI either. In the meantime they suggested physio to see if strengthening my legs will enable me to run....and I guess I'm sucking it up and joining the gym so I can swim/bike and even use the elliptical (which I'm not a fan of but beggars can't be choosers)...they say variety is the spice of life and I guess I will get that at the gym...I'll let you know cos' I don't really like using a gym!! For those of you that are interested I'll post after a bit of physio and let you know how its going
Wow..after going through this..I couldn't imaging having to of wait an entire YEAR with a meniscus flipped into my joint, killing my cartilage and preventing me from opening or closing my knee fully.
One question here in Germany public health care is not forced. You have to be insured, yes, but you can choose if you want the public health care or a private one. Don't you in US would have this option?

That's where the scam comes in. The feds could insure everyone without insurance for a fraction of the cost of the current trillion dollar plan. BUT the plan is designed to undercut private insurers out of business leaving the gov't the only plan. Obama wants a single payer system.
