How do you say the equivalent of...

AHH,  "Cara" I hear that alot ... so that just means like "Maaan"

How would you ask someone to roll?  Is it even refered to as rolling in Brazil?

Just don't ask black belts....especially from Brazil..Its considered disrespectful.

Depends where you are.  I've been to over 60 gyms...20 something in Brazil and the rest here.  Some places you can't even assume a place on the mat without shaking the hands of all the higher ranks.  But one time I was at a brown/black belt only training session as a purple and was told I was silly when I just waited forever for someone else to pick me. 

Best to err on the side of caution, however.

Creative ways to essentially say, "Hi, what's up?"
Tudo bom/Tudo bem? [Too-doo bame/Too-doo bome] - Normal
E aí? [E aye-ee]=Literally, "and there?" It means "what's up with you?"
Beleza? [Beh-lay-za] - Literally means beautiful, but it's kind of like, "Everything good?"
Tranquilo? [Tran-kweel-o] - Pretty easy to tell, essentially asking, "Everything cool?"
Qual é? [Kwal êh] - Portuguese equivolent of "Wud up?" Slangy and can be taken offensively with the wrong tone, so use it with friends.
Tudo jóia? [Too-doo zjoy-ah] - My personal favorite.  Same as beleza/tranquilo. 

Internet Portuguese to confuse Americans
I learned Portuguese on my own (via Orkut--here's a vid of me speaking last July http://www.intheguard.tv/portal/?channe … mp;lang=pt) and it was VERY hard to get some of the internet slang/shorthand.
vc=você=you
ta/tá=está=used anywhere where está (is) would be used.
to/tô=estou=I am
blz=beleza=cool/okay/depends on the context
td=tudo=everything
koé=qual é=what's up?
kd=cade=usually "kd vc?" which means "where are you?"
bj/bju/bjus/bjos/bjo=beijo or beijos=kisses.  Calm down boys, this is a fairly normal thing to finish a message with in male-female and female-female messages.
bjão=beijão=big kiss
abç/abçs=abraço=hug.  Again, normal for some female-male messages and most male-male.
q=que=what/that/etc.  Lots of means, depends on context.
n/ñ=não=no
p=usually pro/pra=for/to - again, context

I asked most of my friends to help me train it and the consensus was, "it's cute, leave it that way." So I may just let that be my most prominent part of my accent.

Awesome thanks to Hillary and Carlos for your help... this will be HUGE in the gym, I've been told many times by Marcelo that I have to speak Portugese before I get my black belt.  Since my black is YEARS away hopefully I can learn!

I text what you said to Drac and I jokingly said...."aight drac, this better be right...Hillary told me to tell you this" (because there have been a few pranks pulled on babalu when one portugese speaker has had him tell a phrase to another)

and he said this..

OH, I know..It was more of a joke towards Drac, I wouldn't think you would do that..especially on a learning forum. That would kind of ruin the point of it   

I never caught caught in a Portuguese prank...carlos tried to get me once, but I already knew half the sentence. He tried to make me say "You are gay" to Drac.  But I didn't fall for it.
