GB Rio Grande Valley Seminar

Friday, May 14th, 2010

That was a great time at GB Rio Grande Valley! It is so hard for me to teach there because professor Tyler Bosard is a great instructor and his students are great. We covered open guards transitions, sweeps and submissions. Also, we had the presence of Professor Leo Cantu, from GB Corpus Christi and David Bella, from GB MC ALLEN. All of us had a great time!

Thoughts on UFC 113 – Machida vs. Shogun

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Koscheck and Daley was kind of what I expected it to be. Koscheck going for the takedown successfully and keeping the aggressor under control. What happened after the fight was bad… Daley lost his temper and this cost him his job in the UFC.

Machida and Shogun showed that the Shogun from Pride is back! Aggressive, taking risks, great on the feet and on the ground. Great performance! Surprised me a bit because I thought that Machida would wait to go for the takedown (where Machida is way better than Shogun) on the later rounds. Great fight!

The Story Behind the Photo – #3

Monday, May 10th, 2010

That picture of my son is the living proof on how the fruit can be bad (myself), but the seed can be good! Look how handsome my boy is! Girls, be ready! He is already attacking in Houston! Can you believe that he got a girlfriend here in Houston on the first week in the US without speaking a word of English? I had to be on the phone with both of them translating what was going on!

But that picture was taken on the last Pan am kids, where Igor got a Bronze medal. He lost to a tough kid by 6 to 5 on points. You can watch that match in YouTube. He is getting more and more serious about training. Getting better every day and kicking the laziness on the ass on every practice.

FREE Access to DraculinoBJJTraining.com Now Expired

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The FREE promo is officially over.

We have to say that we were rather impressed with the results.  Within 10 minutes of posting our servers had ground to a halt.  We quickly got that first problem fixed and found our internet connection (10 Mbit) was totally saturated with people watching videos.  After another hour we upgraded to 100 Mbit and allllllmost had that full too.

The love for high quality BJJ is obvious and we are proud to help share that with the world.  There is so much bad info floating around on youtube and the forums and we are trying to balance that out.  And unfortunately most students aren’t able to figure out the good from the bad…

In any event, we hope you liked the promo and hope you decide to join us both on the free forum and subscribe to the site.

Train hard!

The Story Behind the Picture – #2

Friday, May 7th, 2010

That day was unforgettable… we knew by lots of testimonials how good master Rickson Gracie was and the way he would tap, one after the other, high level people. But that day we FELT in our skin how good Rickson is.

He simply got in touch with Joao Paulo, Big Head, a friend and training partner, and said that he would like to train with some of Gracie Barra’s finest. So we were there, waiting for him to arrive. He got there a little late and we were making fun of Big Head saying that he was lying about Rickson’s visit and all of a sudden… he shows up… everyone was quiet and then Renzo asked, “Sonkiri (the name he calls Rickson), how do you want this to go? Teach us a little? Train a little? It is up to you.” Then Rickson said, “yeah, I am thinking about training with all of you… roll a little bit.” Then he trained with ALL OF US NON STOP! Tapping one and then getting the other! And the last one was the best of us: RENZO!

It was an unbelievable time when we learned of the precision, the technique, the finesse of Rickson is beyond everyone’s. He is the man!

Revista Ragga Article – Belo Horizonte, Draculino, Students

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Belo Horizonte (city in Minas Gerais) is known throughout martial arts for turning out some big names in Jiu-Jitsu. Proof of this is the third Brazilian team championship won by Minas Gerais, an unprecedented feat for a state outside of the Rio-São Paulo hub. “The team brought up by Vinícius Draculino is one of the best in the world. He’s trained more than 100 black belts”, praised Cláudio Cardoso, better known as Caloquinha. Having trained Jiu-Jitsu for 12 years, in 2004 he debuted in MMA, a sport that’s beginning to solidify it’s place in Belo Horizonte.

“Despite the fact that Rio and São have more structure, events and media attention, Minas has a fantastic group of people. What we’re still missing here is a little support”, affirms Caloquinha, who will turn his focus back on MMA later this year. Before that, he will participate in the World Abu Dhabi Pro, a professional Jiu-Jitsu world championship.

Vinícius Draculino is a big name when talking about fighting in Belo Horizonte. The absolute master when it comes to Jiu-Jitsu and coach of MMA fighters, he’s had such success with the team that he formed there, that he was invited to open his own academy in Houston. For two years he’s lived there. “Genuinely speaking, ninety percent of those who’ve had international recognition have passed through my hands or my instructors’”, he affirms… [continue]
