Draculino – Competing in competitions

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Competitions are GREAT!  I love being able to test myself against the best in the business.  It’s so easy to come up with an excuse about being ready or not ready, but at the end of the day this is the best way to evaluate yourself.  Of course this testing works for my students too!  And I have to say that the second best thing is the sensation you get after a good result.  Priceless!

Draculino – How do you prepare for Big Jiu-Jitsu Competitions

Draculino Vs Royler Gracie

TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN. Not only BJJ but also lift weights, run and swim. Being in top physical shape is important.  Also, the most important thing: train your mind! Imagine yourself there, competing against possible opponents. Feel the vibe before you actually go and then, positive energy on to the win! The last thing, like a crown to all of that, stick to a strategy that will work better for your reality.  You know (or should know) your strengths and weaknesses.  Tailor your game to your jiu jitsu strengths and do your best to avoid areas where you aren’t as strong.

Draculino – Brazil trip for students coming up!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I have an upcoming trip to Brazil and can’t wait for the trip! 12 of us are going. 4 days in BH, training at my main school (GBBH) and then 5 days in Rio, training at Gracie Barra HQ.  That will be great for the students to have access to the BJJ Brazilian culture and to share the mats with the best black belts in business. It’ll be an eye opening trip and one that these guys will never forget.  Besides that, Brazil is a great place to have fun!
