Draculino – Dealing with Injuries and Aggressive Training Partners

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Dealing with injuries is part of the game and is the collateral side of training. To help avoid injuries, it is important to warm your body well before practice and when training with rough and spasmatic partners, relax as much as possible and wait until that kind of guy gets tired. Then the chances of getting hurt will be decreased drastically.
If you get hurt, depending on the injury, try to stick to the technical part of class only. You will have less hunger for training and being on the mat helps. If the injury is serious and even the technical part is hard, go ahead and stay home, watch www.draculinobjjtraining.com and get ready for a come back! It is better to come healed than deal with an annoying problem that persists for a while.

RAFAEL SAPO BEATS TRAVIS LUTTER IN BOSTON’S MOOSIN- GOD OF MARTIAL ARTS MMA INAUGURAL EVENT

Our very own and Draculino’s Black Belt, Rafael Sapo, beats the Ultimate Fighter winner and Ex-185lbs. title contender, Travis Lutter, by TKO on the first round on a very crowded arena in Boston.
With an audience of 7 thousand people plus, Sapo put on a show and domminated the fight, showing that he belongs to the biggest stage in MMA ( you know where).
Besides Sapo and Lutter, TIm Sylvia won the main event, beating the strongest Man on earth, Marius Potsdan by Tap out and Yves Edward lost in a real close decision to WEC veteran, Mike Campbell.
Congrats, Sapo.

Yes. Lots of them. When you talk about ability, I say physical condition, natural talent, experience and Technique. On the Physical condition and natural talent, numerous, on the last two, maybe not yet. But I hope they do soon. I teach and train everyday because I want my students to be better than me. Also, I tell them that their students have to be better than them. That is the way that our art will continue to be in non stop evolution.

Draculino – Thoughts on Gi fighters doing well in MMA/No Gi grappling

Friday, May 21st, 2010

It is a natural transition. The Gi training is so precise and there are so many nuances on that that you WILL BE TOUGH! Imagine on how many situations that the use of the Gi can present….You get so smart and aware that it transcends to MMA. Besides that, the Gracie Family is the source of all BJJ and the only Gracie that is not tough is the one that is born dead ( so, all the Gracies are tough!)! So, we, BJJ’ers, disciples of the Gracie family, will be tough!

Draculino and His Thoughts on StrikeForce – Roger Gracie

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

That was a great weekend for BJJ in MMA! The fights at Strike force showed that the new generation of our art is representing well. Roger put on a show, fighting the perfect fight. Actually, Roger has 3 wins by submission and did everything perfect. No even one mistake. Congrats to him, easily the best Jiu-Jitsu guy on earth today.

Jacare did really good also. He is a beast and has one of the most intense and explosive games ever. His opponent was very good and experienced but Jacare dominated.

I did not see but heard that Shaolin did a great fight but the judges gave to the other guy in a split decision. Everyone is saying that i was not one of the best decisions….but I prefer to see and then talk.

GB Rio Grande Valley Seminar

Friday, May 14th, 2010

That was a great time at GB Rio Grande Valley! It is so hard for me to teach there because professor Tyler Bosard is a great instructor and his students are great. We covered open guards transitions, sweeps and submissions. Also, we had the presence of Professor Leo Cantu, from GB Corpus Christi and David Bella, from GB MC ALLEN. All of us had a great time!

Thoughts on UFC 113 – Machida vs. Shogun

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Koscheck and Daley was kind of what I expected it to be. Koscheck going for the takedown successfully and keeping the aggressor under control. What happened after the fight was bad… Daley lost his temper and this cost him his job in the UFC.

Machida and Shogun showed that the Shogun from Pride is back! Aggressive, taking risks, great on the feet and on the ground. Great performance! Surprised me a bit because I thought that Machida would wait to go for the takedown (where Machida is way better than Shogun) on the later rounds. Great fight!

The Story Behind the Photo – #3

Monday, May 10th, 2010

That picture of my son is the living proof on how the fruit can be bad (myself), but the seed can be good! Look how handsome my boy is! Girls, be ready! He is already attacking in Houston! Can you believe that he got a girlfriend here in Houston on the first week in the US without speaking a word of English? I had to be on the phone with both of them translating what was going on!

But that picture was taken on the last Pan am kids, where Igor got a Bronze medal. He lost to a tough kid by 6 to 5 on points. You can watch that match in YouTube. He is getting more and more serious about training. Getting better every day and kicking the laziness on the ass on every practice.

FREE Access to DraculinoBJJTraining.com Now Expired

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The FREE promo is officially over.

We have to say that we were rather impressed with the results.  Within 10 minutes of posting our servers had ground to a halt.  We quickly got that first problem fixed and found our internet connection (10 Mbit) was totally saturated with people watching videos.  After another hour we upgraded to 100 Mbit and allllllmost had that full too.

The love for high quality BJJ is obvious and we are proud to help share that with the world.  There is so much bad info floating around on youtube and the forums and we are trying to balance that out.  And unfortunately most students aren’t able to figure out the good from the bad…

In any event, we hope you liked the promo and hope you decide to join us both on the free forum and subscribe to the site.

Train hard!
